Troubleshooting
Fix a problem
The screensaver doesn't start, the wallpaper is black, or a scene stutters – fixes for common issues.
The screensaver doesn’t start
- Make sure SCRNSVRS is running – its icon must be in the menu bar. Turn on Open at login.
- Check Settings → Start after. Try 1 minute to test.
- If the macOS screen saver or display sleep kicks in earlier, it wins. Set them to a longer time in System Settings.
- Does the display turn off or your Mac sleep first? Then the screensaver never shows. See The screensaver doesn’t start – my Mac sleeps first.
The wallpaper is black or frozen
- Click the menu bar icon and check that the wallpaper isn’t paused.
- After sleep, give it a second to resume. If it stays black, choose the scene again with Set as Wallpaper.
- A full-screen app covers the desktop, so the wallpaper pauses – that’s expected.
A scene stutters
- Lower Settings → Frame rate.
- On battery and in Low Power Mode SCRNSVRS runs at 30 fps on purpose.
- Close heavy apps that use the GPU.
A purchase is missing
See Purchases & Unlimited – usually Restore Purchases fixes it.
